Let’s talk about $Allowance$
Do you give your kids an allowance? Some do and some think it is just part of being a family to help out with chores. There is no right or wrong. I wanted to share some tips for those who do and those who don’t.
There is a great app called BusyKid. It tracks chores that you enter. It pays them with a preloaded BusyKid spending card. Let’s face it, our kids will pay with plastic more then cash in their generation! The app allows you to control and allocate money to spend, save or donate. It helps parents teach kids to earn, manage and begin understanding financial responsibility. The cost is $7.99/year. Not bad for all it will teach your kids well into their teen years!
Next, let’s talk about not paying your kids to help out. We all have chores to do in order to keep a clean, smooth running house. But a little incentive and reward never hurts! How about creating a coupon choice jar where they can pick a reward? Some examples of what to write on the coupons…
1. No chores for a day
2. Pick your favorite cereal at the grocery store
3. Stay up 30 minutes late
4. You choose what we make for dinner tonight.
5. Go to dollar store and pick any item.
You get the idea! Customize this to your children! Happy Summer Chores!
