What We Are Working On:
We are glad to be back after a couple snow days! This month is all about Dr. Seuss, St. Patrick’s Day activities and food/nutrition! We work on skills based on each individual age, need, ability and interest level. All activities are differentiated.
*Letters For March: P,R,S will finish out our alphabet for the year! Please keep practicing all letters! Pre-K will continue to work on lower case letters as well. All children are working on writing their names daily. Pr-K has moved on to last names. Other skills like address and phone number, cut, glue, rhyming, matching, patterns, opposites and all of our daily circle time, daily journals, reading , social skill opportunities and so many activities! We do a lot of learn through play activities and child led and open invitation play.
*Sight Words: Keep practicing sight word flashcards at home! Point out the words when you read to them. Post them on a word wall in their bedroom, playroom or anywhere. Repeated exposure to seeing and hearing these words is so important! There is no pressure with sight words. It is just good for them to be exposed to seeing them. It will help a great deal when they reach kindergarten. Follow your child’s lead! No new sight words this year. We will just review all words on the attached handout. A kindergarten readiness hand-out was sent home with all Pre-K students. Please let us know if you did not get one or if you have ANY questions about whether your child should repeat Pre-K or go on to kindergarten next year.
